Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 5, 2026

ThumbSnag ("we", "us", "our") operates thumbsnag.com (the "Service"), a free tool that lets you preview and download publicly available YouTube and Vimeo video thumbnails. This policy explains what data we collect and how it's used.

What We Collect

ThumbSnag does not require an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information to use the tool. The video URL you paste is sent directly to YouTube's or Vimeo's public image/oEmbed endpoints from your browser to fetch thumbnail images — we do not store submitted URLs on our servers.

Cookies & Analytics

We may use standard web analytics (such as page-view counters) and cookies to understand aggregate traffic and improve the Service. If advertising is enabled on this site, our ad partners (e.g. Google AdSense) may use cookies or similar technologies to serve relevant ads and measure performance. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

Thumbnail images are fetched directly from YouTube's image CDN (img.youtube.com) and Vimeo's CDN/oEmbed API (i.vimeocdn.com, vimeo.com). Your request for a thumbnail is subject to those providers' own privacy policies. ThumbSnag is not affiliated with YouTube, Google, or Vimeo.

Data Retention

Because thumbnails are fetched client-side and not stored on our servers, we retain no record of which videos you look up.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, with the "Last updated" date revised accordingly.
